Episode Context

Just one episode after Anne's place in the Cuthbert home was firmly established, this installment immediately tests what that stability actually means when Avonlea's social fabric enters the picture. Mrs. Rachel Lynde's introduction as a community force sets a recurring dynamic that will follow Anne throughout the series. The tensions surfaced here, between Anne's impulsive nature and Marilla's sense of decorum, will continue to shape Anne's long road toward belonging in Avonlea.
