I love how they wrote the characters for both Tatsumi and the Jaegers, it provides a good look at the "other side". The cheering crowds on the arena felt exciting, it also adds a bit of world building seeing the Capital obsessed with blood sport.

Both the imperial army and the night raid are on the lookout for members. Their search for newbies provides a good comic undertone to this episode. Subplots are introductory to the usual narrative of the story. The pace is slow in this episode, and the animation is also good.
