Right when I was getting attached to Chihiro and this happened T_T. Also, the dramatic introduction for the new character makes me hooked. The case here was definitely something I looked forward to and the build up of the story was getting interesting.

I''m not a fan of the music direction that gives this lighthearted mood in the beginning of the episode when you know from the last episode's cliffhanger there will be an ominous event. I would prefer a more dark vibe between innocent conversation that gives the audience a sense of tragedy between the sisters. Not to mention, it blatantly reveal the suspect after already giving a heavy hint. That said, I love how Naruhodo's cleverness was written by interacting by interacting with the people around him. It also took the time to stew on the grief and resolve between Mayoi and Naruhodo that made the beginning of their partnership that much significant.

Each character is given a decent amount of time to showcase their personalities. Especially Detective Gumshoe, who is always willing to jump to conclusions and also give away information he isn't supposed to.
The introduction for Edgeworth is pretty bold, too. Can't wait to see more interactions between him and Phoenix. This episode does a pretty good job at setting the stage for the trial that's about to take place!

A tragic murder leaves Ryuichi Naruhodo (Phoenix Wright) needing to help a very special client. We also get to meet the scruffy detective Itonokogiri (Gumshoe) and the serious prosecutor Mitsurugi (Edgeworth) for the first time here... they'll definitely be around a lot in the future~ I love the anime-only cherry blossom and rainy scenes that weren't present in the original game. It really adds to the drama and highlights Ryuichi's sweet dedication to his client! 🫢
