Ace Attorney Episode 1: The First Turnabout

Oh my gosh! I think I've seen this somewhere and found out that this is the memes that’s circulating in the socmeds and it’s a game. I like the animation given that its 2016 anime and the dramatic effects make it more interesting. Also, I like genres like this that make my mind work and sharpen my critical thinking. It’s a must watch and actually got me hooked. 

As a fan of the game, I know I'm gonna be bias in my thoughts. But having the culprit spoiled right off the bat was not a smart choice in my opinion. Even if the culprit was obvious, the sense of doubt you can find in a mystery story and the need to find proof is the essence of Ace Attorney. The anime does manage to grasp the vibe of the game. But the dramatic execution was really bland without much creative license and the pacing became weird as a result. But credit to the OG's mystery because it was easy to follow for anyone so solving together with Ryuichi was fun.

This was an exciting and captivating first episode to start the series. Pretty straightforward, too. There's a case to solve, evidence to examine and A victim who deserves justice. (and a childhood friend to save) The pacing is good; the art style is sharp, the animation is on point, the character designs are unique, the soundtrack is immersive, especially during the tense scenes, and there's a bit of humour sprinkled in there, too. (Which does not fall flat)
As a person who has played the game, this anime is so nostalgic... analysing the witness testimonies over again to find contradictions till you could finally yell out "OBJECTION!" was pretty damn fun.
Also, can't over how the composure of the suspect changes after they've been backed into a corner.
Sure, these proceedings will definitely not hold up in a real court, but you cannot deny the fact that this show is entertaining. The absurd reactions and over-the-top dramatic reveals are exactly what make Ace Attorney fun to watch.
