Mari and Megumi completely carried this episode. The friendship tension felt painfully real, and seeing Mari quietly handle everything hit harder than some huge dramatic speech. Also, everyone preparing for the trip made it feel like something huge was finally happening.

This episode lowkey hurt 😭, especially the scene between Kimari and Megumi. It’s all about friendship tension, quiet emotions, and preparing to leave Japan. The goodbye vibes and small group moments make everything feel heartfelt.

This chapter was peak, figuring out the envy and treason Megumi made to Tamaki was heartbreaking. Looking Tamaki evolve as an independent woman, completely opposite to the one in the first episodes was awesome.

Episode Context

After four episodes of assembling the team and navigating logistical hurdles to reach Antarctica, Episode 5 pauses at the threshold of departure to confront the personal cost of leaving home, specifically for Mari. It serves as the emotional bridge between the preparatory arc and the expedition itself, ensuring the journey carries genuine stakes beyond the physical. Everything that follows will land harder because of what this episode resolves.
