I felt sad for Kanae, who ultimately couldn't express her true feelings to Takaki. However, there wasn't an overly melancholic feeling in this episode. Everything felt perfectly on point, including the pacing, storyline, character development, and animation. Best episode!

After 'Cherry Blossom' established the emotional foundation between Takaki and Akari and the pain of physical separation, 'Cosmonaut' broadens the story's scope by introducing a completely new viewpoint character who experiences Takaki from the outside, revealing how distance has changed him. This middle chapter deepens the trilogy's central theme of disconnection and sets the emotional groundwork for the final segment, '5 Centimeters Per Second,' which weaves all three perspectives into a unified conclusion.
