Episode Context

As episode one of four, 'Transmigration' carries the full weight of establishment, there is nothing before it, and everything that follows depends on what it builds here. It introduces Yakumo and Pai, defines the central supernatural premise binding them together, and sets the emotional and mythological stakes for the remaining three episodes. Viewers entering this episode are starting cold; by its end, the core quest driving the OVA's compact story should be clearly in motion.
