EPISODE REVIEWS

El examen comienza, una larga carrera los espera. Será que consiguen pasar, alguno de los cuatro se quedará atrás en esta etapa. Leorio parece alguien muy normal, conseguirá seguir en pie.

Exam starts on this episode! Gon and Killua befriend each other and breeze through the first exam, while Leorio’s already exhausted. Phase 1 is simple, but then intimidating Hisoka shows up with his card tricks. Total badass! Can’t wait for the next Hunter Exam challenge.

Episode Context

The Hunter Exam's first phase turns into a war of attrition, and this episode leans hard into endurance as its central tension. Gon, Killua, Leorio, and Kurapika push through grueling physical demands while their individual reasons for pursuing a Hunter License start surfacing in meaningful ways. The pacing is deliberately measured, this isn't a burst-of-action episode but a slow burn that rewards patience with genuine character insight. Expect the camaraderie between the core four to deepen as shared suffering forges real bonds. Themes of perseverance, personal ambition, and the cost of chasing a dream run throughout. Madhouse keeps the visual storytelling tight, using the physical toll on contestants to externalize internal stakes. Early-series world-building is still in full effect, establishing what it actually means to want something badly enough to break for it.
