One Piece Heroines: A beautiful series that gives you a completely different experience

Before I share my review of One Piece Heroines, let me first share some information that I think you might be interested in. One Piece Heroines is a spin-off series that actually came from a novel, not the manga, and it has no direct relationship with the original story. Watching the anime, even though I saw some characters I am quite familiar with, nothing that happened seemed connected to the original plot at all.

I love One Piece, and I am currently following both the anime and the manga. Everything that happened in One Piece Heroines just feels like it takes place in an alternate timeline, so it won't actually affect your experience watching the original series. I think this is quite important for everyone to know because, in other words, no prior knowledge of the original series is needed, this anime works for anyone.

I understand what everyone might be worried about. Although One Piece Heroines actually adapted its story from a novel, I don't want to spoil anyone's reading experience, so I won't touch on the novel and will instead focus entirely on the anime review. After watching it myself, I really feel that whether you are a One Piece fan or not, One Piece Heroines is a beautiful series to check out this season.

Unlike the original series, the animation in One Piece Heroines is actually amazing and fluid. Even casual viewers may have heard about the original One Piece anime's animation style, but surprisingly, One Piece Heroines is completely different. Indeed, it might be a spin-off, but it features a unique and arguably better animation style than the main series.

Honest Review: Is One Piece Heroines a good anime?

Personally, I do think One Piece Heroines is a beautiful anime that shows us cute stories about the characters we care about. If you are already a One Piece fan, or if you love the female characters just like I do, this anime is amazing. Unlike the original series, which focuses heavily on adventures and battles, One Piece Heroines moves at a great pace, allowing us to enjoy the characters and their side stories much better.

Let me give you an example: the One Piece Heroines anime adapted the "Episode: Nami" story, which clearly tells us the episode is mainly focused on the super famous character, Nami. If you watch it, you will be surprised by how the entire episode truly revolves around her, and the next one focuses on Robin. The male characters that almost everyone knows have almost no screen time at all.

I found it really interesting when watching One Piece Heroines. As someone who has watched and read the entire main series, to be honest, I've grown a bit bored of the male characters. They simply appear too much, and they are so strong that they can handle any situation, which means they just don't offer anything fresh anymore. But the female characters are different, they offer a completely fresh perspective.

Beyond the long adventure story and complicated lore of the original One Piece series, the characters living inside this massive world actually have so many untold stories waiting for us to explore and discover. I truly think One Piece Heroines has done a great job of giving these female characters a major platform, allowing them to truly shine.

Honest Opinion: Is One Piece Heroines a perfect must-watch for everyone?

I think One Piece Heroines is an interesting anime, and I actually quite enjoyed it. However, as I was watching it, I noticed a few things that I think everyone should know. Although One Piece Heroines gave me a very fresh experience, I didn't really feel a strong emotional connection to it beyond that.

For better or worse, One Piece Heroines doesn't follow the intense adventure format of the original series, choosing instead to dive deep into the female characters. It's a great choice because it gives us a completely different experience, but in the end, One Piece Heroines just doesn't have those "must-watch" moments, and you could even say it's hard for it to compete with other major titles this season.

One Piece Heroines is a unique spin-off series, so of course it wouldn't make sense to look for something identical to the original. However, it still needs to have those "must-watch" moments; otherwise, it is simply hard to compete with other titles. In Summer 2026, we are absolutely spoiled for choice. From The Ghost in the Shell remake and Black Torch, to Science Saru's A Witch's Life in Mongol, there are just so many amazing anime to watch this season.

While One Piece Heroines indeed gives us a different experience and perspective, the story in the end is just pretty average. Nami and Robin face obstacles in this anime, but since both are so powerful, the conflicts never feel genuinely threatening. I understand that the main purpose of One Piece Heroines is to give us a different kind of story, but if the core plot isn't strong enough, it's just hard to compete with other titles.

Useful Questions About One Piece Heroines for Those Who Haven't Watched It

I might have shared some harsh opinions about One Piece Heroines, but I do think before everyone tries this anime, there are some information we should have in our mind. Now that I've shared my thoughts, you might have some questions of your own, so I've put together a quick FAQ below. I hope this section helps you out!

Watch it if: You love One Piece, Nami, and Robin, this spin-off is exactly what you need. Because these episodes focus entirely on Nami and Robin, it will give you a completely new perspective on characters you already know and love.

Skip it if: You are looking for an anime with a strong, complex plot, or if you aren't a One Piece fan. It might sound harsh, but One Piece Heroines is truly made for the fandom. If you aren't a fan, you will likely find this anime quite boring and switch to other titles pretty quickly.

Should you watch it weekly or wait to binge it? The answer is simple, you don't have to choose. One Piece Heroines is a single-episode anime special. It aired on July 5, 2026, and does not have a second episode. So, if you've already caught up on other titles and have some free time, you can easily check this out without having to wait for future episodes.
