Dan Da Dan Season 2 Review: Story So Far

Season 2 of Dan Da Dan kicks into high gear and proves that the weird supernatural comedy the series built in Season 1 wasn’t a fluke. The show hits full stride as it blends ghosts, aliens, romance and absurdity with real emotion and style. There are still rough edges, but this season stands out as one of the most creative and entertaining anime of the year.

Bold Storytelling, Expanded Stakes

The season opens right where the first left off and leaps into fresh territory. Our protagonists — Momo, the spirit-medium skeptic; Okarun, the alien believer; and the unpredictable Jiji — find themselves face to face with the Evil Eye yokai, haunted houses, alien cults and secrets that stretch far deeper than they imagined.

It’s not just monster of the week anymore. The stakes feel personal. When the show slows for character beats, you realize the weirdness has been grounding for a purpose. The storytelling weaves together romance, horror and high-octane action in a way that surprises.

Animation, Sound & Style That Shine

One of this season’s biggest wins is how bold the visuals and audio feel. The art direction shows off unusual color palettes and textures, the sound design uses weird ambient cues to set mood (especially when Evil Eye appears), and the voice cast brings characters to life in memorable ways.

A small caveat: while most episodes bob and weave between genres flawlessly, the shift from horror to slice-of-life to action can leave some viewers wishing for more consistency in tone.

Characters Grow Into Their Roles

Momo and Okarun feel more defined this season. Their weird friendship, their romantic tension and the fact that they face extremely odd threats now work because the show gives them space to breathe. Jiji also steps into bigger scenes and becomes more than comic relief — his arc with possession by Evil Eye is surprisingly emotional.

Final Thoughts

Dan Da Dan Season 2 isn’t perfect, but it delivers on nearly everything that made fans excited. It brings laughs, scares, relationship feels and wild supernatural fights together in a package that is both silly and unexpectedly moving. If you enjoyed Season 1, this one is absolutely worth it.

Score so far: 9 out of 10 — An excellent follow-up that ups the creative ante and proves the show has serious staying-power.
