The season finale, a special one-hour episode titled "The Beginning," is a cinematic triumph that bridges the gap between pre-production and the first day of filming. The episode begins with a massive press conference where the cast and director are introduced to the world. The contrast between the bright, artificial flashbulbs of the media and the dark, personal motivations of the actors is the episode’s recurring visual motif. Aqua, now a public figure, handles the media with a chilling, professional grace that mirrors his father’s charisma. The bulk of the finale takes place on the first set: a recreation of the Hoshino apartment. Seeing the characters walk through a "fake" version of the space where the series’ greatest tragedy occurred is deeply unsettling. The episode spends a significant amount of time on the first scene being filmed a moment of domestic bliss between Ai and the young twins. Ruby’s performance is so convincing that several crew members are moved to tears, but the episode makes sure the audience sees the cost. Between takes, Ruby is shown shivering, unable to fully disconnect from the "Ai" persona.
