Flashy Visuals, Thin Plot?
The first episode is definitely a bit of a mixed bag. While the animation is flashy, the plot moves at a breakneck speed that makes Gero's sudden obsession with marriage feel pretty forced. One minute he's a cold-blooded assassin, and the next he’s having a full-blown existential crisis—the tonal whipash is real. Also, the "odd couple" dynamic with Mei feels a bit predictable. If you're tired of the typical shonen tropes where everything is solved by a sudden power-up or a convenient plot twist, the writing here might feel a little thin. It's high-energy and looks cool, but beneath the neon colors, it’s still relying on some pretty cliché foundations. Might be a "turn your brain off" kind of watch.
