Episode Context

Episode 1 opens in a zombie-filled world treated as both hazardous ground and a playground for teenage curiosity. Aki, Natsuki, and Haru train against the undead while scavenging the unfamiliar remains of city life, and Aki's fearless, thrill-seeking energy sets the pace for the group. The tone stays brisk and lighthearted rather than grim: survival tension collides with playful comedy, cartoonish bursts of action, and an upbeat coming-of-age road story. Scavenging runs and travel establish the adventure format, and a sudden call for help pushes the trio into contact with Yu and Sakura. Horror supplies the setting, comedy supplies the rhythm, and youthful fascination with a ruined world supplies the heart.
