Episode Context

Episode 122 serves as a critical pivot point, pulling the narrative out of the Virtual World arc, where the cast dealt with the Big Five's digital ambitions, and redirecting momentum squarely back to the Battle City finals and the hunt for the Egyptian God Cards. It functions as a relaunch for the tournament's endgame, reintroducing the primary rivalries between Yugi, Kaiba, and the remaining duelists. Everything from here forward escalates toward the climactic final duels that will define this entire saga.
