EPISODE CONTEXT
Falling roughly at the midpoint of the series, episode 108 continues the Virtual World filler arc where the Big Five have been challenging the main cast to duels one by one. This episode follows the conclusion of the Mechanical Mayhem two-parter and escalates the arc toward its climax by pitting Kaiba against Leichter, the final and most formidable Big Five member. It directly sets up 'Settling the Score — Part 2,' which will resolve this confrontation before the group can move toward escaping the virtual world entirely.
