Yamitsuki Mura: Melty Limit The Animation
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Drawn by its reputation for strange, unexplained happenings, folklore scholar Kotarou makes his way to a remote village's doorstep. He's warned not to stay there alone — which is never a good sign — but ends up sheltered by a local woman named Shizuka anyway. What starts as field research into rural customs and old legends quickly becomes something more unsettling as Kotarou realizes the village's rituals might not be purely ceremonial. The atmosphere here leans heavily into Japanese rural horror: isolated location, cryptic locals, customs that feel just slightly off. If you've watched Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and liked the slow dread of a tight-knit community hiding something, or if Another's creeping suspense is your thing, this scratches a similar itch in a much shorter runtime. Being a 2-episode OVA from BreakBottle, it keeps things focused — no padding, just setup and payoff. The folklore angle gives it more texture than a standard horror premise, and Kotarou's academic curiosity makes him a believable lens into a world the audience is just as unfamiliar with. Fair warning: this is a hentai title, so the content is explicitly adult. If that's not what you're after, the comparison titles above will serve you better. But if you want folk horror with an intimate, unsettling edge and you're fine with the adult content, it delivers a genuinely eerie two-episode experience that doesn't overstay its welcome.
