Wonder Drug
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Picture a world where all medicine is outlawed, and people just... suffer. That's the backdrop of Liangyao, an upcoming ONA set in a fictional city where healing itself is a crime. Shao Xia is a wandering swordsman who crosses paths with Wuming, a pharmacist who can't remember his own past, Susu, a constable who actually gives a damn, and Xu Changqing, a royal pharmacist operating in a system that's supposed to have banned his entire profession. The four of them team up to hunt down a mysterious monster, but the deeper they dig, the more they realize the city's power structures are hiding something ugly. It's got that classic dynamic where the real monster might not be the one they're chasing. The premise alone — medicine as contraband — sets up some genuinely interesting moral territory. Who benefits when people can't heal? What does power look like when you control whether someone lives or dies without ever drawing a sword? If you liked the world-building and political intrigue in Legend of Exorcism or the character-driven fantasy of Chinese Paladin, this feels like it's operating in a similar space. There's action, there's conspiracy, and there's a group of people who have to figure out whether they can actually trust each other before the city swallows them whole. Worth keeping on your radar for 2026.
