Synopsis
Tatara Fujita is a shy middle schooler who has no particular plan for the future. He has gotten through life by avoiding any kind of confrontation and blending in with the crowd. But blending in isn't enough to get out of trouble, as some bullies harass him for money. Luckily, he is saved by a man named Kaname Sengoku. Kaname invites Tatara to his dance studio. Although he would normally never set foot in such a place, Tatara is captivated by Sengoku's commanding presence. Granted an opportunity to dance with fellow classmate Shizuku Hanaoka—who often practices at the studio—Tatara realizes there's something about the idea of being put in the limelight and dancing where people will see him that keeps him coming back. With an earnest, passionate drive to improve, Tatara begins his journey into the world of competitive dance.

Tatara realizes his goal isn't personal glory, but helping Mako shine. By acting as the perfect "frame," he unlocks her true potential. This shift highlights the heart of dance: partnership. Discipline and humility transform a novice into a pillar of support.
This is our last dance! The sparkling visuals and vocal tracks in this finale are mesmerizing~ ✨ I adore how dance is shown as a mixture of emotions: joy, sorrow, love, hate… It just makes everything, and everyone involved feel so interesting. The final round’s dance really captures Fujita’s incredible journey with incredible payoff!! Overall, this anime had its awkward moments, but it definitely sticks the landing.
It’s a low moment for Fujita after realizing his fumbles, but a special person who’s been with him in the early parts of his journey has come to cheer him up~ What a sweet moment🥺I love the visual symbolism for Fujita-Chinatsu in this ep… it’s so extra lol. And the history of the Kugimiya-Idogawa pair is actually pretty interesting. It's cool that this gloomy guy and strange gal aren’t willing to lose!
WOW, some solid Kugimiya backstory. The shift from his young, wide-eyed idealist past self to his jaded current self is so sadly relatable... This ep captures the dark side of the dancing world. But it also doesn’t forget to show us that despite the hidden gloom, the outward brilliance of dancing keeps our dancers going! LOVE the payoff for Fujita and Chinatsu~
Did Kiyoharu unlock some kind of cheat code for Fujita?! 😲😂 The dancing metaphor used in this episode is so unsettling but brilliant 🚪 It highlights how fascinatingly weird the Fujita-Chinatsu pair really is… Perhaps the best way for them to succeed is just to give up on trying to be a normal couple LOL.
Dancing is really all about provocation and getting attention, isn’t it? 😅 The Chinatsu-Akira drama is quite strange, yet also feels sorta inspiring. IMO, the silly comedic moments really carry this ep~
The Fujita and Chinatsu duo is so bizarre 😂 But whatever they’re doing is working, so it’s alright ig? It’s nice to see Chinatsu and Akira’s backstory in this ep as well ☺ Maybe I wasn’t so delulu about their yuri energy, LOL.
Fujita and Chinatsu’s aura is different…! Their bickering still continues, but something has changed. The audience commentary from Kiyoharu, Shizuku, Mako, and Gaju is fun LOL. Nice ep with a satisfying hype moment and great character development!
The trust exercises in this ep are so unique 😅 And the drama is getting more and more complicated 😫 Things between Fujita and Chinatsu aren’t perfect, but it’s surely getting promising.
The vibes in this ep are a little strange. Fujita’s grown as a dancer quite a bit, it seems. But after all the effort, it still seems like Chinatsu and Fujita still aren’t getting along so well. When will they get that breakthrough? 🤔
Last ep we got some toxic yuri energy, now we are getting into toxic yaoi vibes 😆 Fujita needs to level up his leading game, and he needs to do it FAST. His goodbye to his beloved first teacher is painful, but no pain no gain, right? 😭
Chinatsu’s such a determined girl. And Akira is such an intense gal. Call me delulu… but lowk they have toxic yuri vibes LOL. Chinatsu and Fujita’s team-up is so DIFFERENT from Fujita and Mako. Their clashing energies are gonna be a HUGE challenge!!
The humor is ON POINT in this ep!! So many funny moments 🤣 Chinatsu Hiyama is such an interesting girl: she’s a grounded tsundere full of contradictions~ Chizuru Hongo is also such an entertaining lady: a totally different type of mentor from Sengoku LOL. I also like Gaju and Fujita’s growing friendship in the last ep and this one. The role-reversal twist in this ep is honestly so BRILLIANT and INTENSE.
After the intense competition in the last few eps, Fujita goes to high school for new beginnings! Loving the chill spring vibes at the start of this midpoint ep 🌸 It’s fun to see new and old faces at school~ And it’s cool to see a new challenge being set up for Fujita to tackle in the dancing world!! Sengoku’s such a crazy AURA FARMER in this ep too. Solid build-up here!!
Fujita feels so inspiring to watch during the quickstep. Despite the struggles, he dances with a smile. His positive aura is contagious 😊 Tbh the payoff here is incredible~ This is an emotional episode with a sweet and satisfying finish to the Tenpei Cup!!
Mako and Gaju’s childhood flashbacks are full of serotonin 😍 Cuteness overload~!! It’s also a good way to see why the Akagi siblings parted ways on the dance floor. There’s so much at stake in this competition for all of our dear dancers, and it’s truly hard to tell who will come out on top. Everyone’s fired up and the atmosphere’s electrifying!!
Fujita and Mako are sparkling on stage! 🥺✨ They’re cooking so hard with their unexpected dance moves and they’re somehow pulling it off!! Fujita’s lowk a prodigy. But more important than his raw talent is that he’s a great guy who brings out the best in others… He makes his partner shine~
Kiyoharu is an insightful ikemen! And Marisa is a gorgeous goddess!! Are the Hyoudous just built to be show-stealers?! 😂 Fujita’s relentless determination is so admirable… in just a few episodes, he’s truly found his spark and passion 😭 Mako and Fujita are the cutest angels in this ep, aww. Their team-up is honestly great.
The battle is ON~ It’s time for Fujita and Mako to put everything they’ve learned from Sengoku to the test! I’m so excited to see if there’s payoff for all their hard work!! Gaju’s honestly acting like such a jerk with all of this drama. (But he’s also pretty funny, so I’ll let it slide LOL) Shizuku is terrifying, but so beautiful. This is just the first round, and this ep’s a fun way to build the hype!!
Ooh, another challenge for dear Fujita. His skills and resolve are gonna be put to the test~!! Sengoku is honestly a cool mentor when he actually locks in. He’s really pushing Fujita to excellence…! Gaju continues to be a goofy dude and Mako is still a sweetheart 🥺 I also like the added reason to why Fujita is so empathetic. What a lovely and thoughtful protag 🥰
