Welcome to Pia Carrot
Oshimeter
Synopsis
After bombing his exams, Yusuke Kinoshita gets punished the old-fashioned way — his dad ships him off to spend the entire summer working at the family restaurant, Pia Carrot. No beach trips, no sleeping in, just an apron and a shift schedule. What starts as academic purgatory turns into something else entirely once he meets the waitstaff. The restaurant is staffed almost exclusively by women who are charming, eccentric, and very much aware that their new coworker has no idea what he's doing. The early episodes play out like a workplace comedy first — there's a demanding boss, chaotic lunch rushes, and Yusuke fumbling through a job he was never prepared for. The adult content is there, but it grows naturally out of the character dynamics rather than feeling bolted on, which was not always a given for OVAs of this era. The 90s cel animation has that warm, hand-drawn quality that fans of classic adult titles tend to genuinely appreciate. If you liked Golden Boy's mix of slapstick workplace humor and adult content, or the intimate character drama in Doukyuusei, this scratches a similar itch. It's a 3-episode OVA adapted from a beloved visual novel franchise that reportedly influenced the real-life cosplay cafe boom in Japan. Not a heavy watch — just a nostalgic, comedic slice of late-90s adult anime with a specific charm that holds up reasonably well.
