andrey_k★★★☆☆AnimeWelcome to Pia Carrot
Oshimeter
Synopsis
After bombing his exams, Yusuke Kinoshita gets punished the old-fashioned way: his dad ships him off to spend the entire summer working at the family restaurant, Pia Carrot. No beach trips, no sleeping in, just an apron and a shift schedule. What starts as academic purgatory turns into something else entirely once he meets the waitstaff. The restaurant is staffed almost exclusively by women who are charming, eccentric, and very much aware that their new coworker has no idea what he's doing. The early episodes play out like a workplace comedy first: there's a demanding boss, chaotic lunch rushes, and Yusuke fumbling through a job he was never prepared for. The adult content is there, but it grows naturally out of the character dynamics rather than feeling bolted on, which was not always a given for OVAs of this era. The 90s cel animation has that warm, hand-drawn quality that fans of classic adult titles tend to genuinely appreciate. If you liked Golden Boy's mix of slapstick workplace humor and adult content, or the intimate character drama in Doukyuusei, this scratches a similar itch. It's a 3-episode OVA adapted from a beloved visual novel franchise that reportedly influenced the real-life cosplay cafe boom in Japan. Not a heavy watch, just a nostalgic, comedic slice of late-90s adult anime with a specific charm that holds up reasonably well.

rengoku_radiance★★★★☆EP 1The characters are definitely tropes we have seen before, but the energy of the restaurant makes it fun to watch anyway
zora_284★★★★☆EP 1I couldn't stop laughing at the main guy trying to act cool during his interview after failing so hard to get there on time
eschuu★★★☆☆EP 1that bike crash at the start really set the tone for the whole show and the girls all look great despite the simpler art style
blastoise_303★★★☆☆EP 1Everything about that first interaction felt super predictable and it was hard to get invested in the main couple when they spend the whole time shouting at each other for no reason
oliver_operatic_502★★★★☆EP 1I saw way more cleavage in this first episode than the movie and the pacing was way faster too
eudial★★★★☆EP 1running into the girl you work with on your way to the interview is such a classic move and the comedy really lands
the_infant★★★★☆EP 1The cleavage factor is definitely high in every single scene and it makes the whole premise of his dad forcing him to work there feel like a weirdly specific punishment
jessie★★★★☆EP 1seeing those fmvs in the middle of the episode was such a throwback because they have that specific 90s look you just do not see anymore and it reminded me of old saturn games plus the way the girls treat yusuke like he is a total idiot during his training makes the whole restaurant setup feel way more chaotic than i expected
alder_326★★☆☆☆EP 1The music in the background felt a bit distracting during the more serious dialogue scenes, but the voice acting for the main heroine really saved those moments from feeling too stiff
tesso_titan★★☆☆☆EP 1You can tell this was made in the nineties by how loud the character designs are and that restaurant is definitely not a place where anyone actually goes for the food
notlem★★★★☆EP 1That opening argument between the two leads makes it so obvious they are going to end up together but the 90s art style still looks really good for an old ova
pearl★★★★☆EP 1The way the uniform designs put everything on display is basically the whole point of this show and you can tell exactly where the budget went during that first shift
shinji_ikari_180★★★★☆EP 1I felt bad for Yusuke getting stuck working all summer just because he flunked those classes and that first meeting with the main girl was so awkward it made my skin crawl
zamazenta★★★★☆EP 1I actually liked the frantic energy of the comedy scenes and seeing Yusuke get yelled at by his new boss for being a total klutz was the highlight for me
hatifnatik★★★★☆EP 1Watching Yusuke stumble through his first day at the restaurant was pretty funny, especially since he clearly has no idea how to handle all those girls in those tiny outfits
raiju_rider★★★★☆EP 1That encounter between Azusa and the protagonist set the tone perfectly and their chemistry is basically just shouting at each other for now
