Synopsis

While going through old documents, Roberto Nicholas comes upon a peculiar record. It details the agreement of a witch who concocted a soup that supposedly granted generations of popes with longevity in return for her exoneration from the brutal witch trials. Curious as to why the Vatican treated the record with such secrecy and whether the elixir of longevity truly exists, Roberto and his partner, Josef Kou Hiraga, seek to recreate the witch’s soup. This OVA mixes mystery and faith really well, turning miracles into cases to be investigated rather than just accepted.

It feels more like a detective story about belief, deception, and human motives than a traditional supernatural anime.

It keeps the dark and mysterious feeling of the series strong from start to finish. Joseph and Roberto’s investigation was tense and interesting, while the creepy church atmosphere and psychological mystery made every scene feel uneasy in a good way. The animation is solid throughout the OVA. The darker scenes look especially good because of the heavy shadows and gothic-style backgrounds. The combination of religion, crime investigation, horror elements, and psychological tension creates a unique atmosphere that feels very different from most anime mysteries.

I didn't know what to expect from this OVA. It's very interesting how they develop the mystery of the story and weave it together with real scientific and historical facts. I researched the Egyptian goddess and the city of San Marino, and what the anime says is indeed true. The characters look great, and the background art is impeccable. Perhaps the story seems a little bland; I was expecting a darker resolution, but not everything has to be about conspiracies and murders. I'm really looking forward to watching the series now.
