Synopsis

Born into a family legacy rooted in Tennyo angel bloodline, Mai and Ai Amatsu carry a heritage that sounds impressive until you learn what the job actually involves: fighting off sex-starved demons while protecting a child-like boy named Onimaro from supernatural threats. That's the setup, and this 2-episode OVA from 1994 leans into it completely. The sisters have transformation sequences, demon-hunting abilities, and a whole lot of pressure to keep their chastity intact while the forces of evil seem specifically motivated to make that difficult. It pulls from Japanese mythology in ways that give the story a distinct cultural texture — Tennyo figures are woven into folklore as celestial beings, so grounding the twins in that lineage gives the chaos at least some narrative scaffolding. The animation is pure mid-90s Arms studio style: rough around the edges in places, but with a kinetic energy that fits the action beats. If you've watched Injuu Seisen: Twin Angels or La Blue Girl and you're already familiar with how this era handled supernatural action with adult content, Twin Dolls sits comfortably in that same space. It's not trying to be subtle about what it is. Two episodes, mythological demon-fighting sisters, a very specific kind of threat they're constantly fending off — it delivers exactly what that premise promises and wraps up without overstaying its welcome.
