Most of the episode is a flashback covering events from the first episode up to this point. I don’t think it was really necessary, as it kills the anticipation and the momentum built in the previous episode. But the last few minutes reward your patience for not skipping it.

This is mostly a recap episode. If you’re pressed for time, better to watch the first 3 minutes, then skip to around the last 10 minutes (the part where Meryl's drinking coffee by the window at night is a good start) to see an interesting new scene and the lead-up to the next ep.

This episode primarily feels like a filler for the flashbacks being told partly from Meryl's perspective and also outside. Showing Vash's sides in this really feels poignant for us to remember that there is still more to learn about him. But at the later end of this episode, Meryl lets out a thought that feels significant to Vash's arc. We can only see how Vash keeps it going until we finally know the truth.
