William Conrad observes, noting the immense energy Knives now possesses, enough to create a new genesis. Legato Bluesummers smirks, proclaiming Knives will become a true god, rewriting the world. Elendira the Crimsonnail watches with unease, sensing a strange sadness in Knives despite his impending triumph.

Elendira's unease quickly turns to alarm as she senses Vash the Stampede's presence. Legato interprets this as Vash deliberately provoking them, saving them the trouble of searching. He dismisses William Conrad's attempts to stop him, declaring that Knives needs Vash for their fusion to be complete. Legato then sets off, a predatory glint in his eye, to bring Vash to his brother.

Vash, Nicholas D. Wolfwood, and Roberto De Niro wait on a cliff overlooking a vast desert, a landscape littered with the skeletal remains of ships. Roberto notes this is where Vash and Knives first landed, a place Vash sombrely calls where their "hell" began. Vash holds a picture of Rem and his young brother, reflecting on his failure to truly understand Knives or even the Plants' true desires. Wolfwood, ever pragmatic, states that if Vash doesn't know, no one does, dismissing the need to understand Knives' motives beyond his own will.

From a distant vantage point, Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson observe the approaching conflict. Meryl reflects on the three years since the Last July, noting how long it has felt. She expresses empathy for Vash's 150-year journey, hoping that his long, arduous path finally leads to peace. Her quiet contemplation underscores the immense, unseen weight Vash carries.

Wolfwood plays a melancholic tune on his harmonica as a small object appears on the horizon, rapidly descending toward Vash and his allies. The pod lands, revealing Legato Bluesummers, who confidently assembles his mechanical body. He taunts them, challenging them to defeat him if they wish to stop Knives. Roberto, enraged, charges forward, his weapon firing a powerful laser beam, as Zazie the Beast and Elendira the Crimsonnail's golems also move into position.

Roberto demonstrates surprising agility, dodging Legato's attacks and swinging through the air. He transforms his weapon into a blade, parrying Legato's mechanical arm. Shouting his true name, Livio, he unleashes a barrage of energy blasts, his determination fierce. His massive attack creates a fiery explosion, but Legato remains untouched, protected by his advancing golems. Roberto's face shows shock, his efforts seemingly futile.

The towering mother ship descends, casting a long shadow, as Meryl and Milly watch helplessly from afar. Vash and Legato engage in a brutal, high-speed chase, their blows exchanging with blurring speed. Vash is thrown back, barely escaping falling debris, while Wolfwood and Vash combine their efforts against the golems. But Roberto is critically wounded, trapped beneath a collapsing structure, prompting Legato to cruelly taunt Vash, demanding he pull the trigger to save his friend.

Vash, his face etched with resolve, raises his gun towards Legato. He fires, striking Legato's mechanical arm, but the hits seem to have little effect. Vash is thrown back again, injured and overwhelmed by Legato's power. Legato then launches a psychological assault, accusing Vash of betraying Knives, of never truly understanding his brother's feelings, only his own. Legato's intense, enraged words strike a deep chord in Vash, his eye widening in dawning horror at the potential truth of the accusation.

The battle rages around Vash, Wolfwood, and Roberto as golems swarm. With a hardened resolve, Vash aims his gun at Legato, who spreads his arms wide, inviting the shot. Vash's finger pulls the trigger. The screen flashes white, leaving the immediate consequences unseen. Roberto's broken weapon, splattered with blood, is shown. Vash screams, his face contorted in agony, tears streaming as Legato smiles victoriously. A single tear falls from Vash's eye, reflecting a distant object, as Knives Millions undergoes a monstrous transformation, roots and vines erupting from his body, turning him into a towering plant-human hybrid.
