Tragic Silence
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Quietly in love with her childhood friend Shou, a human, vampire Luticia navigates feelings she can't easily act on. Their relationship is sweet and understated, built on years of closeness — but it exists in a world where humans and vampires are supposed to keep their distance. That fragile peace gets shattered when a vampire named Rick is killed by a woman from Shou's village, and suddenly the tension between both communities is at a boiling point. Luticia and Shou find themselves caught right in the middle of it. This is a one-episode OVA from 2003, so it moves fast and keeps things intimate rather than sprawling. The gothic atmosphere is handled well for its runtime — the art style leans into the brooding tone without feeling overdone, and the soundtrack does a lot of quiet work in the background. At its core, it's a forbidden romance story with real stakes, not just a backdrop. If you've ever watched something like Ceres, Celestial Legend and appreciated how it weaves mythology into emotional drama, or if Dear Brother's slow-burning tension between characters is your thing, this scratches a similar itch in a much shorter package. It's not trying to be an epic — it's a contained story about two people whose feelings for each other suddenly become dangerous to everyone around them. For a single episode, it leaves more of an impression than you'd expect.
