EPISODE CONTEXT
Coming off the fallout of 'Flawless Fortune,' where Shiki's innocence was called into serious question, episode 22 escalates that tension into direct physical and ideological confrontation with Mikado. As the penultimate stretch of a 24-episode run, this is the series committing to its climactic trajectory. It directly sets up episode 23, 'My Friend,' which will deal with the emotional aftermath and the shifting dynamics between these two characters heading into the finale.
