To You in the Beyond
Oshimeter
Synopsis
A boy with a secret he won't talk about transfers to a high school on a remote island, hoping nobody will ask questions. Then he finds an unconscious girl washed up in a cove that locals call the 'Cove of Spiriting Away' — a place tied to old legends about people vanishing without a trace. She wakes up in the hospital with zero memory of who she is. The only clue is a single word she keeps murmuring: '1974.' Kazuki names her Nanao, and the two of them start digging into the island's folklore and her lost identity, pulling at threads that probably should've stayed buried. This is a movie, so it's a single sitting — one film from TMS Entertainment adapted from a novel, landing in 2026. The vibe is quiet and atmospheric, the kind of story where a remote island setting does a lot of heavy lifting. There's romance woven through it, but it's grounded in the mystery of who Nanao actually is and what the island's history is hiding. Think the emotional warmth of something like A Place Further than the Universe crossed with the small-town tension of A Town Where You Live, but with a supernatural folklore edge neither of those really touches. If you like stories where two people with incomplete pasts help each other figure things out against a backdrop that feels slightly off, this one's worth your time.
