📖 SYNOPSIS

Based on a children's picture book, "Ticonderonga no Iru Umi" begins in December 1965, with a U.S. aircraft carrier en route to Japan. During training exercises, an A4 strike aircraft carrying a B43 hydrogen bomb accidentally falls into the ocean. The incident, mirroring the real-life loss of a bomb near Okinawa, is kept secret. Years later, in a Japanese fishing town, Ashika, a young boy, becomes telepathically linked with whales. These whales transmit visions of terrifying sea monsters, hinting at the environmental damage caused by the sunken bomb. The anime explores themes of environmentalism and the hidden dangers of nuclear weapons, drawing inspiration from a declassified event that caused significant controversy. The extra "n" in the title may be a deliberate alteration.
