A character driven drama that blends breathtaking hand-drawn animation and a story about ambition, creativity, and the cost of pursuing a dream. One of Studio Ghibli's more mature films, great for anyone who enjoys a slower paced film with breathtaking imagery of aviation.

Like many Ghibil movies, this one will move you to tears from both joy and heartache . The blend of reality and dream, that moves along side historical timeline is wonderful storytelling. The art, the storytelling, and the soundtrack are all beautifully combined for an enchanting experience.

Highlights for me is the art within the animation; watching Jiro doing his work with such love and dedication is beautiful. The romance that slowly blows and doesn't take over the story but adds to it like it is mimicking life and its chance encounters.

Also Kurokawa's hair made me laugh.
