The Tatami Time Machine Blues
Oshimeter
Synopsis
On a hot summer day in Kyoto, a young man walks toward his apartment, dreaming of turning on the air conditioner and cooling down. But before he can turn his dream into reality, disaster naturally strikes in the form of Ozu, who spills soda all over the remote. With the air conditioner rendered completely unusable, the man and his friends are left to suffer in the terrible August heat. Just when all hope seems lost, the group finds a true-to-life time machine in their storage room. Not knowing the dire consequences of doing so, they decide to travel back to the past and grab the remote before Ozu even has a chance to destroy it. What awaits them on the other side is a staggering adventure none of them are prepared for.

A great finishing episode to a great series. While this final episode felt a bit forced on compared to how the 5th episode gave sufficient closure, it was still decent and wrapped up. Though a very genius ending in my opinion.
Wow what a wild ride. They went even deeper seriously. This was a fun conclusion to the series, nothing more than that. I suppose Episode 6 might be an extra epilogue of sorts. though I really enjoyed the episode. Nicely paced too.
This is definitely the most entertaining thing ive watched all year, I'm loving the plot and connecting the little pieces of the puzzle This episode gave us all the explanation needed. Still bummed by the fact that it's only 18 minutes per episode. The pace is also nice too.
Well I expected a bit more seriousness to this. So far I'm not finding the directing as impressive as in Tatami, and the comedy nowhere near as funny as in Summer Time Machine Blues, but it's alright. It's a bit confusing with all the time travel honestly.
A shorter episode, but it felt just as fun as the first one. Well, I guess the time travellers haven't thought of the repercussions of time travel up until now. I wonder how the pilot is connected to the characters in the future. Very interesting plot honestly, though it is slow.
A little bit slow to start but I love the eccentricity of it. The narrating is interesting, the animation is vibrant. It is nice though. The episode's complex time travel plot and stylish visuals make it stand out by far In my opinion.
The prequel episode showing how everyone met was so sweet 🥹 Young Ozu being insufferable even back then is so consistent. The fictional railway they obsess over is a weirdly specific hobby but I love it. The animation of them just sitting around imagining train routes🥹
The dog is the real hero of this episode 🐕 The bootstrap paradox stuff is handled so well. The way everything connects back to earlier moments is satisfying. The music during the emotional beat was beautiful. This show is way smarter than it lets on.
The time travel logic this episode is actually really tight. Hanuki wrapping the remote in cellophane to "protect" it was so dumb but I loved it. The animation during the chase scenes was super fluid. The universe almost collapsing over an AC remote is so on brand.
The past and present timelines overlapping is so trippy 🌀 Watching them realize all the weird inconsistencies were their own fault is hilarious. The bathhouse scenes are gorgeous—that retro vibe is perfect. Ozu chasing after past Watashi while everyone panics is peak comedy.
Time machine just appears in the closet?? These guys are way too chill about it lol. Tamura from 25 years in the future looks rough. The logic puzzles about time paradoxes are already hurting my brain but in a fun way. Ozu volunteering for time travel duty? Dangerous.
Summer in Kyoto is brutal and these guys are stuck without AC 😭 The animation is so fluid and colorful—classic Science SARU style. Ozu being Ozu and causing chaos immediately. Watashi's internal monologue is back and I missed it. This is gonna be a wild ride.
Ozu's antics are pretty wild, Akashi's moves are key and the time travel stuff gets really interesting. Definitely some clever connections being made. Worth a watch for the technical payoff alone
I'm still thinking about the time loops, it's crazy how everything connects. The way the protagonist races against his own past is genius. You should definitely watch it, the details all come together in a really smart way
The villa is crazy with paradoxes and remotes. Managing multiple versions of yourself is wild. Definitely watch this episode, it gets real interesting
EP3 is worth your time — let's go after them. we have to bring them back!. Strong enough to keep The Tatami Time Machine Blues fans engaged.
EP2 is worth your time — in the more than 100 years since the legendary english author h.g. wells. Strong enough to keep The Tatami Time Machine Blues fans engaged.
I just watched and it's super fun, they deal with a broken AC remote and then a time machine shows up. Definitely watch, it's wild. The heat in Kyoto is no joke
Finale wraps everything in a clever way—the chaos actually pays off and feels intentional. It’s still fast and weird, but satisfying once it all connects. Not perfect, but definitely memorable ⏳
Now it really clicks—the time loops and character actions feel intentional. It’s still chaotic, but in a smart way. A bit dense, but super satisfying if you follow along 👀
