Synopsis
High school student and gamer Suigin Riku attends the prestigious Shinryou Private Academy, a school for the elite and the children of the wealthy. But rich or wealthy are not words that describe Suigin; in fact, he is dirt poor and must work many part time jobs to pay for his tuition. During one such job, he dives into a pool to save his pet cat, fully aware that he cannot swim. Luckily, he is saved by Rei Riku, the beautiful and popular daughter of a game developer, and he falls in love with her. He is also drawn to another girl: a new friend he meets in Dungeon Century, his favorite online RPG. But when the game is scheduled to shut down, he knows his adventures with her will soon end. However, the day after the game is shut down, he finds out that Rei and the online girl are one and the same. Soon after, Rei gives Suigin a new game meant to replace Dungeon Century—a tomb raiding game called Grave Buster. But when Rei is suddenly kidnapped, Suigin is pulled inside Grave Buster to save her. Gin no Guardian follows Suigin as he plays through Grave Buster to save Rei, while uncovering the secrets hidden within the game.

How does a tournament finale end up in a 3v1? Scrap that, kid and MC aren’t even relevant anymore as baddie 2, Twin Star cooked a lil too hard. Last ep but it feels unfinished. This series threw storytelling and pacing out the window and I personally find it funny. Verdict: 4/10
An unexpected tournament arc?! Tournament is full of bs rules and somehow MC is put in the spotlight with some random kid. I am convinced that this series lost the plot but at the same time I want to see how the story progresses.
Riku Rei’s alter ego strikes again. But really, who is she? Nonetheless, this ep is pretty confusing, who’s the main villain I still don’t know. Still an entertaining watch and animation seems to be fairly consistent.
Momentum kinda dropped in this ep imo, surprising it lasted this long. Ecchi scenes warning, ain’t bad but I know there are many who do not fancy it (like me). But at least we get to know more about the bad guys now.
Interesting ep to say the least. MC is unsurprisingly strong right off the bat (he’s rich after all) and bad guys didn’t stand a chance. The last scene was unexpected with a new character intro…Riku Rei?
An unexpected reunion, random mech and more ecchi scenes?! Regardless, it is an entertaining ep since we actually get some action now. The last scene wasn’t necessary though…in my humble opinion.
NEW BADDIE ALERT! Also people get superpowers irl now? Nonetheless, the series takes an exciting turn as the story now takes place inside Grave Buster. No idea on what exactly I am watching but at least there is a purpose now
This ep gave me more questions than answers and the story gets even more weird. Is it bad? No, but it isn’t good either. Still interesting enough to keep me watching though. I will say the animation is decent, just storytelling is mid
‘Um, wth?’ is my genuine reaction to this ep. 4eps in I still have no idea what this series is about. The story is weird but it is somewhat entertaining, also MC got his girl so good for him ig.
Decent ep, but I’m still unsure on the direction of the story… New game released that is essentially PTW and what about the Isekai scene at ep1? Seems like something gearing towards a SAO style series where people get sucked into a game world?
Chill ep for the most part, MC is a hardcore gamer and a simp. I feel bad for MC towards the end though.. Nonetheless, despite how average the series has been, it does end the ep with a convincing hook to make you want to watch more.
Average 1step imo. Animation is satisfactory but pacing and storytelling is messy. Although not an ecchi anime, it has ‘minor’ fanservice which I personally am not fond of. But it is interesting enough for me to watch more, eps are short (~10mins), good for binge watching ig
Seeing Takeshi rolling down tears is deeply emotional, especially knowing that i would do the exact same thing to protect my sister.
It is incredibly comforting to hear Takeshi's emotional words, and it serves as a beautiful reminder that I too will go to heaven.
It is beautiful to see Suigin's confidence and his assurance that he will bring Ruki back no matter what.
It is terrifying that Temujin of Totems Call promised to wait for Suigin in Grave Buster, and it really feels like too much pressure on poor Suigin
It was an incredibly thrilling scene to watch as the shots were fired to the club, and I really enjoyed that action.
It is truly admirable to see Suigin's deep determination, as he is ever ready to defeat anything
It is sad to see Suigin beaten up while trying to protect Ruki.
It is a massive tragedy for Ruki, and I felt for poor Ruki too.
