A visual and nostalgic feast that is highly entertaining, although it falls short by trying to cover too much ground in too little time. It has an unexpected approach, structured almost like a musical. Oscar remains the fascinating core of the work, constantly grappling with the tension between the expectations imposed by his upbringing as a man, his duty to the crown, and his own heart. However, due to the speed at which events unfold, the film relies heavily on a narrator to fill in the historical gaps. It is undeniably a visual love letter to the original aesthetic. MAPPA managed to modernize the animation while fully respecting the visual drama; I appreciated that they kept the "starry eyes."
