EPISODE REVIEWS

Rising of the Shield Hero is one of those animes where you come in expecting one thing and it ends up subverting your expectations. Naofumi had everything to be great hero just like many other Isekai protagonists, but thanks to a lie he ends up becoming the public enemy nº1.

Episode Context

As episode 1 of 25, this is pure foundation, introducing Naofumi, the parallel world's mechanics, and the other Cardinal Heroes who will remain central throughout the season. The deliberate setup here directly feeds into episode 2, 'The Slave Girl,' where Naofumi's trajectory takes a sharp and defining turn. Everything established in this premiere, particularly regarding trust and social standing, becomes the emotional bedrock for the entire season's arc.
