Synopsis

For most of high school, Koyuki Hikawa has kept people at a comfortable distance — what her friends have started calling her 'ice wall.' It's not that she's mean or cold on purpose. Communicating with people just became harder after some rough experiences, and somewhere along the way, keeping walls up felt safer than knocking them down. Season two picks up with that wall already showing cracks, as Koyuki navigates deeper into her friendships with Minato, the kind of person who barges through emotional barriers without even noticing them, Miki, who's popular but more perceptive than she lets on, and Youta, a basketball player with his own quiet warmth. The season pushes everyone further — Koyuki isn't the only one carrying something heavy, and watching each character slowly let the other in is genuinely moving without ever feeling manipulative. Studio KAI handles the emotional beats well, letting small gestures and expressions do the heavy lifting. If you finished Kimi ni Todoke wishing the growth felt a little more grounded, or loved the internal honesty of Ao Haru Ride, this sits comfortably in that space. It also carries some of the same quiet weight as Orange, though it stays closer to everyday adolescence than dramatic turning points. It's a slow-burn school drama built around the specific discomfort of letting people see you — and how terrifying and worthwhile that can be.
