Episode Context

Coming off the more relaxed, character-driven Episode 37, this installment marks a clear tonal pivot as the series begins building toward the Yamabuki Middle School confrontation within the Tokyo Preliminaries. Akutsu's introduction here is foundational, his rivalry with Seigaku, particularly his connection to Kawamura, becomes a driving narrative thread in the episodes ahead. At episode 38 of 178, the show is deepening its competitive landscape and signaling that the stakes will only intensify from here.
