Ryoma faces a bunch of U-17 high school qualifiers and it gives a good assessment of his skills, which at least makes all those matches worth it. Kikumaru and Oishi face each other, which I think at least gives the Golden Pair more character development. This episode didn't really work for me, though, I really didn't feel any emotional hits from any of the characters.
