Man, why are idiot characters everywhere? I mean, it’s fine for them to be there, but this is just an otherworldly level of stupidity—not to mention the crazed arrogance. It’s just so cringe to watch.

Second episode is also a good one. The animation is also good, and the pacing is just right. This episode builds up the tension for the upcoming episode, so it's needed for a better experience watching the next one. The way they introduced his senpai was some good aura farming, lol 🤣.

Episode Context

Rick Gladiator's adventure career hits its first real checkpoint as he steps into the E-Rank promotion exam. This is an underdog proving-ground episode through and through, expect the tension of a protagonist who's older than the typical fresh-faced adventurer and carries the weight of societal doubt on his shoulders. The pacing stays measured, giving room for Rick's internal resolve to breathe between bursts of action. His dynamic with mentor Reanette Elfelt injects welcome levity, keeping the tone from sliding into pure grit. The examiners serve as both obstacles and mirrors, reflecting back the question the whole series is built on: can a late-starting ossan hang with the best? Themes of perseverance and self-belief drive every scene. A solid character-establishment episode that rewards patience over spectacle.
