S.E.M are four former high school teachers and their debut episode at a prep school is so good because it leans fully into the absurdity of the concept while also being genuinely sincere about it. watching these men apply actual teaching instincts to their idol performance — structuring it like a lesson, reading the room like a classroom, adjusting on the fly like experienced educators — is such a clever way to show that their past lives didn't disappear when they became idols, they just found a new way to use what they know. the students in the audience going from confused to genuinely engaged mirrors the viewer's experience perfectly. S.E.M aren't the flashiest unit but this episode makes a strong case that they might be one of the most genuinely interesting ones. the comedy lands, the heart lands, the concept lands. great episode.
