Lowkey a good start for the branch that sadly attracts the weird people. Arisu is probably in the bottom when it comes to im@s mcs (for me) so maybe I'll change my mind.The immense contrast in personality within the group of idols is probably going to be one of the highlights going onwards, since we have a very diverse cast, ranging from ones who pretty much act according to their age to Arisu.Also it's nice to see a baby face producer for this group, is kinda fitting.
I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect going into this, especially since the Idolmaster franchise is so massive, but the first episode of U149 is an absolute delight. It establishes a completely different energy right out of the gate compared to the mainline series. Focusing on a group of aspiring idols who are all under 149 centimeters tall gives the show a distinct charm that feels grounded yet incredibly vibrant.
The animation is great for a slice of life anime. The almost realistic setting, and the rotoscoping looks beyond the normal budget for a show, and in the realm of movie territory. The main protagonist is insufferable, you feel sorry for her in the beginning, but that quickly fades when she interacts with the other girls, and the producer. Some gripes she has are legitimate while some are just nitpicks. The music isn't much to write home about even though it's anime centered around music.
