Seeing Scarlet’s past through Lily’s eyes actually broke me. 💔And finally getting pieces of the truth, it hits HARD. The politics are still messy but now it hurts more than it confuses. I went from “huh?” to “oh that’s messed up…” real quick. Yeah, you gotta watch this one.

A dive into the past as key discoveries are made, pushing the plot forward past the midpoint. The retrospective storytelling explains a lot. Big revelations, world-building, and unexpected connections take over. Dude… that was incredibly emotionally heavy.

This episode was truly sad. Things are coming together as the plot unfolds, it's nice to see the way the writers layered all the pieces to the mystery together. Hopefully Scarlett gets her revenge after being used as a pawn, she deserves closure at least

The backstory done right! The layering of plots, the relationships Lily, Scarlett, and Enquire had before their deaths. This episode gives us so much about the thought process of Lily and the mystery of Scarlett's death, without giving to much away. Peak writing.

This is in my opinion is one of the most underrated anime, people have given reviews that its mid, but they cant understand the depth of lore this anime has. This ep is one of the best proofs to the fact that the mystery in this anime is very layered

Lily's backstory hit different. Her friendship with Scarlett and what happened to her was heartbreaking. Young Scarlett being genuinely kind underneath all that sharpness. The conspiracy gets darker every episode. This show is crushing it.

Sectioning the past events by slide-like frames is a perfect touch, especially for an anime with this genre. The dialogue is heavy but you won't notice how much time has passed because you're invested and laser-focused with absorbing every detail.

Flashback episode done right. It didn't feel draggy at all. They did a great job creating and amplifying viewer anticipation about what new information will turn up, unfolding more drama.

I don't mind the amount of info dumps in this episode as it supports the world-building greatly. And definitely anyone can get invested once the juicy, messy bits of the past resurface!

finally, a show where people actually get screwed over and ghost-assisted revenge is on the menu, not some fairy tale nonsense. peak 😤

The drama unfolding was visually scrumptious, from the shadowy intrigue of the 'Tea Party of the Mute Ladies' to the opulent gloom of that high-class brothel, every frame was a masterclass in atmospheric composition. ✨

This episode was packed, good for viewers but man, those animators probably pulled all-nighters for this plot-heavy mess, hope the production committee sees the return on investment after burning out the staff. 🥵

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off Episode 7's 'A Banquet Of Insectivorous Plants,' which escalated tensions and set up major character revelations, Episode 8 functions as the crucial backstory payoff—providing the emotional and narrative context needed to understand Lily Orlamunde's role in the overarching mystery. This is a deliberate pivot toward reflection before the story accelerates into Episode 9, 'The Holy Grail of Eris,' which promises climactic developments. Positioned late in the season, this installment is clearly designed as the final piece of foundational storytelling before the endgame begins.
