📖 SYNOPSIS

Clumsy, easygoing, and with zero idea what she wants to do with her life, Makoto Konno sees her world flip upside down when she finds out she can literally leap through time. At first, she does exactly what you'd do: rewind embarrassing moments, ace tests she bombed, replay a perfect karaoke session. It's fun and lighthearted and you're grinning the whole time. But here's the thing about messing with time — every little fix creates a new problem somewhere else, and Makoto starts learning that the hard way. What begins as a carefree romp slowly becomes something more emotional and bittersweet, especially as her relationships with her two best friends, Chiaki and Kousuke, start shifting in ways she can't just rewind away. Madhouse animated this, and it shows — the summer light, the running, the body language all feel alive in a way that makes this 2006 movie still hold up. The soundtrack quietly does a lot of heavy lifting too, hitting you in places you weren't expecting. If you liked the emotional gut-punch of Your Name or the way Erased weaves time travel into something personal rather than sci-fi heavy, this hits a similar nerve. It's less about the mechanics of time travel and more about growing up, making choices, and accepting that some moments you just can't get back. A warm, romantic, and genuinely moving movie that earns every bit of its reputation.

✨ MUST WATCH IF...

You love character-driven coming-of-age stories with a light sci-fi twist baked in
Makoto's carefree misuse of time travel — and its snowballing consequences — sounds like your jam
You want a single standalone film from Madhouse with gorgeous background art and warm atmosphere
Themes about fleeting youth, avoiding responsibility, and growing up hit close to home for you

❌ SKIP IF...

You're after complex time-travel mechanics or hard sci-fi — this keeps things simple and personal
Simpler character designs clashing with detailed backgrounds is something that'd bug you visually
You want fast-paced action or high stakes — this is reflective, slice-of-life pacing throughout
