The story takes place on an island called Renkin, which translates to "Alchemy" in English. The story features a classic "trapped in a remote location" murder mystery. This episode features both Miyuki and Reika alongside Kindaichi and as usual, there are a few moments where the two spark jealousy over him. There are a few scenes where the artwork suddenly looks inconsistent, and the animation feels noticeably underwhelming. While I understand that the series prioritizes its storytelling over visuals, it would have been nice to see more effort put into the art and animation to maintain a consistent quality throughout the episode. The soundtrack does a good job of setting the mood, especially during the more suspenseful scenes.
