The Divine Emperor of Destiny
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Meet Xuan Qi, a bottom-tier cultivator whose entire life strategy is "don't die." No grand ambitions, no revenge arc, no chosen-one destiny — just a guy trying to keep his head down in the Great Victory Divine Continent. That plan falls apart when he accidentally stumbles into a battle between the Alluring Empress and an ancient demon, nearly getting killed in the crossfire. In that desperate moment, he triggers something called the "Heavenly Show" system, which rewards him with power every time he convincingly acts like a peerless master. The catch is that everyone now thinks he's the reincarnation of the Divine Emperor, and he has to keep up the act or the whole thing collapses. The comedy here comes from the gap between who Xuan Qi actually is and who everyone believes him to be. He's essentially faking it at the highest level of cultivation society, and the show leans into the absurdity of that premise hard. The martial arts sequences from Ruo Hong Culture are solid too — there's real weight to the fights even when the setup is ridiculous. If you liked the power system creativity in Battle Through the Heavens or the comedic misunderstanding energy of something like The King's Avatar, this 40-episode ONA hits a similar sweet spot. It's closest in spirit to Soul Land's world-building but way less serious about itself. Worth the time if you're into cultivation stories that don't take the genre too reverently.
