This one hits different because the emotional growth is finally peaking. Kyotaro is finally waking up to the fact that Yamada is actually into him. Seeing her grab his hand was a total win. No cap, the courage it takes to exchange those gifts is huge. Romance is mutual now.

The "big one" for fans of the romance. It’s appealing because it delivers on the buildup of the entire season so far. It isn't just about the candy; it’s about the mutual courage it takes to give and receive a gift when your feelings are that big.

Episode Context

Episode 4 centered Yamada's feelings, and Episode 5 completes the pivot by grounding viewers in Ichikawa's perspective, creating a fuller picture of their mutual development. Sitting just before the season's midpoint, this episode functions as a bridge, introducing new characters and narrative threads that will clearly pay off in the back half. It's a setup episode done right, deepening the emotional foundation while expanding the world around the central pair.
