This episode covers the aftermath of the chaos of episode 1 and starts to set the stage for the mystery of this season. We see where everyone is at currently as Noe and Vanitas got split up. There's also a very vulnerable scene between Jeanne and Vanitas. Overall, I liked it

This episode serves as a clear bridge, focusing on the aftermath of the previous events and the current state of each character. It leans more into the interactions between Vanitas and Jeanne, which, as always, are enjoyable to watch. However, the shift in pacing is quite noticeable, moving from high-intensity action to a much more relaxed tone. Despite that, the episode still manages to deliver key plot developments toward the end, particularly hints surrounding Chloe and her connection with the Charlatans. Overall, it’s a decent setup episode that prepares the stage for more intense developments ahead.

Noé gets more focus here, and his curiosity leads into something deeper than expected. Vanitas keeps things unpredictable as always. The episode slows down but a single moment shifts your perspective. Worth watching for the character depth.

Seeing Vanitas so vulnerable and losing his cool while Jeanne tries to help is a nice change from his usual cocky self. The backstory about Chloe and the Beast adds a lot of mystery to where this arc is going.

The cabin scene was WILD. the vulnerability on both sides? the animation on the small moments, the way faces change when they realize what they're doing? this show knows how to make a moment feel heavy. 👀

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off Episode 1's encounter with the Beast of Gévaudan, this episode deliberately pumps the brakes to deepen personal stakes and flesh out character dynamics before the plot escalates. It functions as connective tissue between the season's opening action and the upcoming Chloé d'Apchier arc, which Episode 3 begins to introduce directly. Early-season character investment episodes like this one tend to pay significant dividends as Part 2 builds toward its larger confrontations.
