Synopsis

Picture what happens when you toss a penguin into a black company. That's basically it, and it's funnier than it has any right to be. Teikou Penguin is this short-form ONA where our main character, Penguin, drags himself through the soul-crushing reality of Japanese corporate life — overbearing boss who lives for overtime, a coworker named Panda who somehow dodges every responsibility, and a junior called Shachi who pins her mistakes on him. You know these people. You've worked with these people. They just happen to be animals here. The episodes are bite-sized, so you can knock through a bunch of them during a lunch break, which feels appropriate given the subject matter. The humor is dry and pointed — less wacky office hijinks, more "I'm going to describe exactly how miserable this situation is and let you laugh because the alternative is crying." If you liked Aggretsuko's take on workplace rage but want something even more stripped down and cynical, this scratches that itch. Fans of Shirokuma Cafe might appreciate the anthropomorphic cast, though the vibe here is way less cozy and way more "please let me go home." It's a comedic workplace satire that works precisely because it doesn't exaggerate much. The absurdity comes from how real it all feels, just delivered by a penguin staring dead-eyed at his computer screen.
