Episode Context

As the first of only six episodes, 'To You in 2016' carries enormous narrative weight, it must establish the central relationship between Shizuka and Takopii while laying the thematic groundwork for everything that follows. This premiere introduces the core tension between Takopii's simplistic understanding of happiness and the brutal complexity of Shizuka's suffering, a dynamic the remaining five episodes will push to its breaking point. With such a compressed episode count, expect every element introduced here to pay off significantly.
