Capitulo con un inicio normal e incluso tierno, pero con un trasfondo muy crudo y un final de impacto.

Read the manga before the anime came out. Looks just as good as the manga. It's wild.

My expectations of this anime at first were a slice of life anime, but then it took an emotional turmoil in the life of Shizuka's life just because of their parents. I was enjoying Takopi's innocence, though he tried everything to make his human happy.

I thought it was gonna be slice of life but I was fooled. They did not hold back on this one, this is so unhinged.

I thought it was all flowers and rainbows LOL. This is like a horror version of Doraemon i guess. It has a great direction and great voice acting where you will get hooked by it, the background music, sound effects all of it. Imma call my therapist now. :>

The art style really had me fooled going in. Didn't take long before things took a turn, and by the end I was just kind of staring at my screen not knowing what to do with that.

I am just beyond stunned with what I have just watched. I wasn’t ready with the brutal reality of bullying and seeing it from several angles too. I highly recommend this show with its unique premise of a cute alien coming to understand what’s happening

Honestly one of the best anime last year. The premise was already intriguing and the animation... it was chef's kiss. Interesting plot and characters? I'M SEATED.

Takopi aims to make Shizuka smile, but reality is bleak. It’s well-written how cruel a child can be and the complications of social relationships even in a classroom. Can't imagine this heavy story from the cute characters! The art captures her despair with haunting precision.

Beautifully animated and presented but still on the fence if its being edgy for edges sake. Takopi feels more like a character from a different anime but that appropriate given that he is a literal alien. Will continue to watch but mostly for the unique art style.

Don't let the cute art style fool you. Ep 1 is a total trap that goes dark immediately. It deals with some heavy trauma, but the storytelling is honestly top tier. A haunting psychological masterpiece that really stays with you. Definitely not for the faint of heart.

That escalated quickly, did not expect such graphics. Hope this story ends well for shizuka-chan 🙏

It looks cute at first but turns heavy fast, and that contrast really hit me. Some moments were hard to sit with, yet the emotional honesty pulled me in. I felt uneasy but curious, and I want to see where this heartfelt story goes.

it starts cute and innocent, then slowly reveals something deeply unsettling. The contrast between its childish art style and heavy emotional themes makes it uncomfortable in a powerful way. A bold, haunting start that lingers long after it ends.

The start is promising- but if u can’t take brutal scenes it ain’t for u

EPISODE CONTEXT

As the first of only six episodes, 'To You in 2016' carries enormous narrative weight—it must establish the central relationship between Shizuka and Takopii while laying the thematic groundwork for everything that follows. This premiere introduces the core tension between Takopii's simplistic understanding of happiness and the brutal complexity of Shizuka's suffering, a dynamic the remaining five episodes will push to its breaking point. With such a compressed episode count, expect every element introduced here to pay off significantly.
