Tonari no Yokai-san

📖 SYNOPSIS

Tonari no Youkai-san is set in Engamori, a town where humans, yokai, and gods share a long history of peaceful coexistence. The story centers on two interwoven narratives. First, Buchio, a cat nearing the end of his life, mysteriously evolves into a nekomata, a feline yokai. This transformation grants him extended life with his human family but also brings questions about his new abilities and the reasons behind his evolution. Separately, young Mutsumi Sugimoto finds solace and companionship in Jirou, a tengu, a crow-like yokai, as they navigate their lives and gradually develop a bond built on mutual understanding and protection. Their stories highlight the ordinary lives and extraordinary circumstances of these supernatural beings as they attempt to live peacefully within their community.
