Klein, new to the game, asks for help with combat tips, and Kirito agrees to teach him. They leave the town walls to practice against basic Frenzy Boar enemies.

Kirito explains the 'Sword Skills' mechanic, showing Klein how to initiate specific motions for powerful attacks. Klein initially struggles, taking a humorous hit from a boar. With Kirito's guidance, Klein successfully activates a skill, slicing through a boar which shatters into blue digital polygons. They share a triumphant high five as the digital sunset paints the sky, celebrating their first team effort.

A booming bell rings, cutting through the evening's silence. Both Kirito and Klein are suddenly enveloped in pillars of blue light. They are forcibly teleported back to the central plaza of the Town of Beginnings. Thousands of other players are also gathered there, filling the space with an uneasy quiet.

The crowd murmurs with fear as the sky above them turns a deep, menacing red. A 'System Announcement' warning pulses on the hexagonal ceiling, and a blood-like liquid begins to drip. The liquid gathers in the air, forming a massive, shimmering, cloaked figure. This is Kayaba Akihiko, the game's creator, who announces that the inability to log out is not a bug, but a core feature. He delivers the horrifying news: dying in the game means dying in the real world.
