Sudachi no Maoujou

What happens after the credits roll? Demon Lord defeated, world saved, credits rolled, and now nobody needs potions anymore. Villager runs a little item shop called The Nest in Beginnerville, the kind of starter town adventurers pass through before they get interesting. Except adventurers stopped coming, and the shop is basically dead. Then a strange girl with golden eyes walks through the door and complicates everything. Her name is Mao, she used to be the Demon Lord, and defeating her apparently didn't kill her. She's immortal, stuck around, and needs help figuring out what to do with that. Villager accidentally inherits a power that makes him a candidate for the next Demon Lord, and somehow the solution they land on is: keep running the shop, figure it out together. It's a pretty low-stakes premise that turns genuinely fun once you see how the two of them bounce off each other, a clueless shopkeeper and an ancient demon trying to make sense of peacetime. If you liked The Devil is a Part-Timer and its whole 'powerful being works a normal job' energy, or Maoyu's approach to post-war fantasy economics, this scratches a similar itch. The comedy comes from the situation feeling mundane and absurd at the same time, and there's enough action and adventure layered in to keep things moving. Worth picking up if you want something lighter that still has some teeth to it.
