What an amazing first episode! Packed with sci-fi, military action, and tactical warfare from start to finish. The rockets, fighter jets, and combat were awesome. The animation looked great, the characters were surprisingly cute, and the intense story made for an exciting start.

The opening episode feels more focused on setting up the characters than moving the plot forward. The pacing is sluggish though I did enjoy the attention given to the aircraft. Hopefully things pick up soon.

The first episode, with its very slow pace, focuses heavily on showing the daily lives of the student reservists and their problems with teachers and school, introducing the different characters, canon within the story, and a very slow plot development.
